Year 3 Visits Vale Clydach Refinery

Today, Year 3 had an exciting visit to the Vale Clydach Refinery as part of our topic work learning about Ludwig Mond and to develop our understanding of Cynefin. We walked down to the factory and began our adventure, where we were warmly welcomed by Liz and the team.

Our visit started with a fun quiz in the wonderful Mond Museum. We then made our way to the boardroom to listen to a fascinating talk from local Mond expert, John White, who also lives near our school. He shared lots of interesting facts about the factory and its founder, Ludwig Mond.

One of the highlights of the day was trying on various work clothing and masks – it was so much fun dressing up! We were also treated to snacks and refreshments and felt thoroughly looked after throughout the visit.

We even had a demonstration showing how a defibrillator can save a life, which was both exciting and educational. Before leaving, we presented Liz with a card we had made to say a very big thank you for such a wonderful experience.

We returned to school having had a fantastic afternoon filled with learning, fun, and memorable experiences!

Thank you, Elizabeth Arthur and your team for providing such a brilliant trip!
