Wonderful World Book Day!

Staff and pupils dressed up for World Book Day as the favourite character from their favourite book. We all shared what our favourite books were and were a very colourful sight! We had lots of fun reading activities.

There were dragons, crocodiles, Sponge Bobs, Cats in Hats, Dog Men and other animal characters. A range of Harry Potter characters, including a dementor! Roald Dahl's Mr Wonka and an Oompa Loompa, Matildas and James and David Walliams characters including an almost life-size van! Fairytale characters and princesses, Where's Wallies and Enid Blyton's Famous Five and Mallory Towers.

The most important thing isn’t dressing up but reading! Reading for 20 minutes a day, to or with your child, exposes them to nearly 1.8 million words annually, significantly boosting vocabulary, comprehension, and academic performance. This daily habit builds language skills far beyond daily conversation, helps emotional development and strengthens parent-child bonds.
