Awareness , Warn and inform advice for persons reporting or displaying symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting
Public Health Wales, Carmarthenshire and Swansea Bay Local Environmental Health authority have been made aware that there is a number of individuals who are currently reporting gastro- enteritis type illness in the area including diarrhoea and vomiting.
Can we ask that you follow the guidance below so to protect yourselves and any other persons in your childcare, school and educational setting. Please can this be shared with the parents and staff who use your setting:
• If anyone is attending your childcare, school and educational setting reports of being unwell with Diarrhoea or vomiting, they should be sent home and not return until 48hours clear of symptoms.
• If anyone is experiencing being unwell including diarrhoea or vomiting, please encourage them to contact their GP or local health service to provide a faeces (poo) sample.
• Please also advise if the symptoms are worsening or they are concerned, please seek medical advice.
• Hand Hygiene is very important for everyone- please ensure good hand hygiene is
undertaken and that everyone wash’s their hands particularly after going to the toilet ,anyone with symptoms should try not to prepare food for others , and make sure everyone wash’s their hands before eating.
