Today, Year 3 had an exciting visit to the Vale Clydach Refinery as part of our topic work learning about Ludwig Mond and to develop our understanding of Cynefin. We walked down to the factory and began our adventure, where we were warmly welcomed by Liz and the team.
Today, our school community came together to observe a two-minute silence for Remembrance Day.
Please help the Mini Vinnies. We will be recycling and ensuring everyone has a Christmas jumper/dress etc. if they want one.

This week, we were delighted to welcome two members of the Missio team from Bishop Vaughan Comprehensive School to our school hall. They came to talk to us about the Jubilee of 2025 – Pilgrims of Hope. Together, we explored what it means to be a missionary of hope and how we can share that hope with others.
Congratulations to Year 6 on their fantastic play ‘STRONGER THAN STEEL,’ AT PONTARDAWE ARTS CENTRE. It was a fantastic experience for them to have written and then performed in front of family in a working theatre. A huge thanks to Derek Cobley and Colleen Wynn for their professional input and an even bigger thanks to Mr Maddock and Miss Frances for guiding the pupils and ensuring this play was not only fantastic on the day but a valuable learning experience. The play was professionally filmed in the morning session and USB copies available to buy for £5 after half term.
A synopsis of the play is:
Despite the challenges faced by the people of Port Talbot—such as invasions, forced relocations, industrial hardships, poverty, strikes, and environmental degradation—the community has remained resilient and united. There is a sense of strength, pride, and solidarity of the people, who have built their lives around the steelworks and the town’s industrial heritage. The play highlights the importance of family, friendship, love, and community support in overcoming adversity. Ultimately, the story celebrates the enduring spirit of Port Talbot, portraying it as a place where the past meets the future, and where hope and determination keep the community thriving.
Today, Year 3 enjoyed an exciting visit to their local church to explore and identify some of the important features inside. On arrival, they were warmly greeted by Father Saji and some parishioners, who were busy doing a spot of gardening on the church lawn.
Big thanks to the nursery Mums and Grandad who gave up their time to build our new bikes for the early Years block. We really appreciate your help and support – and the children are thrilled with their new transport!
Today, we gathered together in our school hall for a special assembly led by our Criw Cymraeg Pupil Action Group. The children talked to us about a very important day for Wales — Shwmae Sumae Day, which takes place tomorrow!
This week, our class had a special visit from a representative of the Swansea Bay Health Board, who came to talk to us about CAMHS – the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. The session was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn more about how to look after their mental health and understand the importance of emotional wellbeing.
The children had the fantastic opportunity to take part in a Great Big Live Assembly to celebrate Black History Month. This special event focused on the inspiring story of Rosa Parks, a courageous woman who famously refused to give up her seat on a bus and helped spark the civil rights movement in America.
The Fire Service came to work with Years 5 and 2, teaching them about the dangers of fire and the importance of having proper fire alarms in our homes.
